Day 287

There is one slight problem with our wall, it complete blocks this area off. :D Now this might sound like a crazy problem. But with the doors closed, Merlin, our cat, isn't able to get inside. So time for a solution. I do not want to cut a 'cat door' into our new wall or one of our beautiful wood doors. So that leaves the plaster wall in our bedroom. As we are going to knock this down sometime in the future it doesn't sound like to bad of a plan.

After supper, Jonathan used the can of Great Stuff to seal up the cracks along the wall that go into the ceiling out over the kitchen and bathroom. I got to do a little destruction. I knocked that little hole in the wall in our bedroom. Wow, one little cat-sized can let in a ton of cold air. But it is needed. We covered that wall section with plastic on the landing room side, putting a little slit by the hole. Then on the bedroom side, we covered the hole with another piece of slitted plastic.

Here is the hole before we covered it with plastic.

All that was left was to show Merlin his new door. It does let in a bit of cold air yet, but nothing like the wall before the drywall or leaving a door open for Merlin.
