Day 48
Today we took down the top kitchen cabinets in the tower room's kitchen (on 2nd floor). Then Jonathan took out the screws that were holding the bottom set of cabinets in. But we were unable to move that out. It was heavy, the tile and the wall were keeping it in, and what were we going to do with it once we got it away from the wall. So we decided to move on to tearing that wall down. Then maybe the cabinet would just slide out into the room.
Here is a picture of the little kitchen in the 2nd floor tower room. There is a closet behind the kitchen (to the right). We were planning on putting the laundry room in here and just using the kitchen cabinets. But have now changed our minds. We think we would rather open up this room and make it more usable space. When we first move into the house, the girls are going to share this bedroom and could use the extra space. After we get the 3rd floor finished and move the kids up to their bedrooms this is the room we are going to use as our TV/family room. The wall on the very left of the picture used to be a fireplace. We were thinking about opening this back up at that time. But that will wait until we get the girls moved up to their bedrooms on 3rd floor.
Here we have the top set of cabinets down and are starting to work on the bottom. The sink has been removed.
Jonathan has started to cut the sheetrock off of the wall.
The wall has been partly removed. The room already feels a lot more open and we still have quite a bit more wall to take down. :) It is going to be so nice and big in here.
